With two weeks to go until the filing deadline, two candidates have filed to run for Mauldin City Council.
Councilman Gabe Hunter has filed to seek re-election for Seat 3. Taft Matney, a public relations and governmental affairs consultant, has filed to run for Seat 1, which is now held by Councilwoman Patricia Gettys.
Seat 5 will also be up for grabs on Nov. 5. Councilman Dale Black now holds Seat 5.
Candidates have until noon on Aug. 15 to file at City Hall. The filing fee is $100. Races are non-partisan.
All of Mauldin’s council members are elected at-large, but candidates must declare a seat.

CAMPAIGN NOTE 8/1/13: As of today, Taft Matney is the only candidate who has submitted paperwork to run for Seat 1 on Mauldin City Council. With two weeks left before the filing deadline, others are likely to follow, though.
