National Night Out began in 1984 to promote public involvement in crime prevention, to build relationships between communities and law enforcement, to increase neighborhood spirit, and to send a message to criminal elements, that WE control our streets…not them.
When National Night Out was introduced, 2.5 million people in 23 states participated. Now, the annual event includes nearly 38 million people in more than 16,000 communities nationwide.
Mauldin has participated in the event for years, and this year is no exception.
On Tuesday, August 05, join us at Mauldin City Hall (5 East Butler) from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for National Night Out 2014.
We’ll have food, games, a demonstration by a Mauldin Police K-9 officer, and music.
It’s a great family event, and I hope you’ll be able to join us. Don’t forget that City Council’s monthly committee meetings begin at 6:00 p.m., so while you’re at City Hall for National Night Out, please come on in to Council Chambers to see and hear firsthand what’s happening in city government.
