
(JULY 16, 2025/MAULDIN, SC) Taft Matney has formally filed for reelection to Mauldin City Council Seat 1.
First elected in 2013, Matney has played a key role in helping guide the city through a period of significant transformation. He currently serves as Chair of the Economic Planning and Development Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee and the Building and Development Services Committee. Previously, he chaired the Recreation Committee and served on the Public Safety Committee.
During his tenure, Matney has championed initiatives to enhance public amenities, support local businesses, and foster economic development — helping position Mauldin for long-term success while preserving the character and values of the community.
“As someone who grew up in Mauldin, I care deeply about the future of our city,” Matney said. “We’ve made incredible progress, but there’s still important work to be done that includes ensuring we remain a place where families thrive, businesses grow, and public safety is a top priority. I’m running for reelection to keep that momentum going and to continue representing the people of our great city with transparency and purpose.”
Matney is also a longtime community volunteer and has been instrumental in building partnerships that support both city operations and quality of life for residents.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.
