The City of Mauldin is following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for planning, preparing and responding to the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The City is working to prevent employee exposures to acute respiratory illnesses within the workplace, including COVID-19, and ensuring the provision of public services should community outbreaks of COVID-19 within the area occur.
Following a telephone meeting with city administration and department and division heads on Sunday, March 15, 2020, the following subjects were reviewed:
- Greenville County Schools: According to the School District of Greenville County, all Greenville County Schools will be closed from March 16 through March 31, 2020. More details are available on the Greenville County School District website.
- Senior Center Operations: Effective Monday (3/16), the Senior Center will close until April 6, 2020 to assist in mitigating any potential COVID-19 outbreaks. Staff will reevaluate the center’s operations during the closure, which may be extended past April 6, 2020.
- Recreational Activities: Effective Monday (3/16), all recreation activities (including youth baseball, softball, lacrosse, flag football, and adult basketball) will be suspended until April 6, 2020. Staff will reevaluate the recreational activities during the suspension period, which may be extended past April 6, 2020.
- Egg Drop: The Egg Drop, scheduled for April 4, 2020, has been canceled. This cancellation is consistent with CDC guidelines relating to mass public gatherings.
- Sports Center: The Sports Center hours of operation will be 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Saturday. The center’s Sunday hours of operation will not change. This will allow for a more frequent cleaning of the Sports Center by using a commercial grade cleaner to disinfect all Center areas (including conference rooms and common areas) multiple times a day.
Essential city services will continue without interruption. This includes, but is not limited to: police, fire, sanitation, and sewer services.
